When choosing a base for a semi-permanent manicure with apex:
– Always use prep solutions in advance, such as Nail Prep and Nail Bonder. These bases are low-acid, improving product adherence to the natural nail.
– For problematic or weak nails, apply a thin layer of clear base like Gum Base or Rubber Base Clear for extra strength.
– Shape the apex properly—these bases are more flexible immediately after curing. For lasting durability, it’s essential to build the apex correctly. If applied too thinly or without proper structure, the nails may break.
– For very thin nails that tend to lift at the edges, lightly file the natural nail after finishing the manicure with a special bit designed for under-refill technique.
