When using High Standards Base for a manicure with a built apex:
– Start with prep solutions (Nail Prep and Nail Bonder) for improved bond, especially as these bases are low-acid.
– For problematic nails, apply a thin layer of a clear base (like Gum Base or Rubber Base Clear) beneath for extra durability.
– Sculpt a proper apex. Immediately after curing, these bases are more flexible. Building a well-structured apex increases wear time and prevents breakage. Insufficient apex creation or just brushing on the base may lead to nail fractures.
– If working on particularly thin nails that tend to lift from the sides, gently file away the natural nail under the extension using a special under-refill bit at the end of the manicure.
