Choosing the right products and techniques is key for achieving optimal results and depends on your client’s natural nails as well as the final look you wish to create.
When using High Standards base for a gel polish manicure with an apex:
– Always prep the nails with a nail prep solution and bonder to enhance product adhesion, especially as this base has low acidity.
– For problematic nails, apply a thin layer of a clear base for extra resilience.
– Properly shape the apex; immediately after curing, these bases have higher flexibility. To ensure maximum strength, make sure you build the apex correctly. If applied with just a brush or an insufficient apex, nails can be prone to breakage.
– For very thin nails that tend to lift over time at the corners, use a special bit to remove the natural nail underneath after finishing the manicure—this is the under refill technique.
