When working with a base for a semi-permanent manicure with an apex:
– Always start with preparation solutions (such as Nail Prep and Nail Bonder). Their low acidity helps improve the bond between the product and the natural nail.
– For problematic nails, a thin underlayer of a clear base (like Gum Base or Rubber Base Clear) can enhance durability.
– Correct apex shaping is essential; immediately after curing, these bases are more flexible. Proper apex construction will secure long-lasting wear and prevent nail breakage. Applying the base only with a brush or creating an improper apex can lead to cracks.
– On very thin nails prone to lifting at the corners, gently remove a small amount of the natural nail from underneath with a special bit after finishing the manicure for better adhesion.
